The importance of an exercise program

If weight loss is your goal then there is no getting away from the fact that physical exercise is a necessary addition to a healthy diet to maintain a healthy lifestyle.   Even if you are at your healthy weight, our bodies were created with muscles for a reason, to be used, and the more we use them the longer we will retain our youth and vigour.

As a certified Pilates instructor and fitness instructor I will be happy to work with you to help set up an effective and manageable exercise program which will not only help burn extra calories but will improve your mood and general feeling of well being.  Whether it be a walking program or spinning classes at a gym we can devise a program that with both suit and challenge you.


The figure we see on a weighing scales is not the only indicator of a healthy weight, the following provide a more comprehensive indication of the health of our physical bodies:

  • Body fat mass percentage
  • Visceral fat
  • Skeletal muscle mass percentage
  • BMI - body mass index
Taken together, these figures give a comprehensive overview of the body's health, and also a better indicator of the beneficial results of dietary and lifestyle changes over a period of time (fat mass reduced and muscle mass increased for example).

If you would like me to work with you on a weight loss program it will require a minimum commitment of 12 weeks, possibly more as everyone is an individual and each persons weight loss goals will vary slightly.

What we will do is work together on altering the diet to ensure you are optimising the nutritional quality to support the body and mind, while at the same time creating an exercise schedule that works with, not against your lifestyle. 

Its great to have a friend to both encourage and challenge you.  Why not try the Weight Loss Buddy package?  You and a friend would both come in for an initial consultation individually and I would set up a similar exercise routine for both of you.  For the follow ups you would come in together to review how everything is going.  Not only would this be a lot more fun but you will save some money too!!
